Allan is a statistical consultant with considerable experience of publishing, analysing and teaching statistics in the public sector. He has led statistical analysis for several government departments in high-profile areas including well-being, government and environmental accounts, productivity analysis, community safety (crime, justice, drugs and fire) and education. He has expertise in performance analysis and financial data. He also has practical experience of healthcare research and quality monitoring in the third sector.  Most recently he led operational analysis for the Child Maintenance Group in the Department for Work and Pensions.

Allan holds a Master’s degree from Oxford, is a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society (RSS) and is experienced in using techniques such as multiple regression, factor analysis and multilevel modelling. He has advised on data visualisation techniques, combining multiple administrative and survey data sources and has managed data processing for several large programmes using SAS, SPSS, Excel and Access. He is also a current examiner for a leading A level exam board.
