Hi, I’m Lynsey and I’m a statistical consultant at Select Statistics.
At Select, I’m responsible for liaising with clients, delivering statistical analysis and research, and for providing statistical training, advice and support.
Our clients range from retailers, local authorities and health professionals to utility companies, market researchers and engineers, but they all have one thing in common, they want to make the most out of their data.
I especially enjoy the variety that my role offers. Each project presents a new challenge in terms of both the subject area and the statistical techniques required.
Beyond that, working directly with clients requires strong personal and professional skills, including time management, the ability to work in a team and effective communication.
Most statistical consultants have a Masters degree in Statistics, but you don’t have to stop there. After my Masters, I studied for another 3 years to gain a PhD and valuable new research, presentation and teaching skills.
At Select we encourage all of our consultants to work towards the Royal Statistical Society’s Chartered Statistician qualification. This award not only recognises our statistical qualifications, but also our professional training and practical experience.
